Sunday School
With commitments to sports, school and other activities as busy they are, we make our time with the children in Sunday school count! We welcome all children to learn and grow in their faith, through culturally relevant, seasonally appropriate, fun and engaging lessons. Our staff of professional, young-adult teachers, all with experience in education, teach lessons that are based on the Bible and relate to the lives of our children.
Classes are held for children in Pre K through 8th Grade, with Nursery care available for infants and toddlers and Confirmation classes for students in 9th Grade. Children begin in the 10:30am Family Worship Service with their families and go to their classes following the Children's Sermon.
Confirmation
Teenagers are trying to figure out what they believe, and our Confirmation program is designed to help them do just that. By exploring current topics and relating them to faith and the Bible, teenagers are invited to explore Christianity and what it means to be a member of our Church. Confirmation is offered for students in 9th Grade or older who wish to explore more about their faith and beliefs.
Youth Fellowships
With all of the demands placed on the time and energies of teenagers in our culture, our Youth Fellowships provide a place to get away from the pressures of school and sports and hang out with friends, while growing in an understanding of faith and how it relates to their lives within their context. Sunday night meetings are the core of the program and are held in our new, technologically enhanced Youth Room (including Rock Band, Wii and an iPod dock). We hang out, eat, play games and video games and have a time of meaningful discussion - a weekly "Gel Session" - which offers our teenagers an opportunity to take their conversations beyond the surface and delve into the real issues and challenges that they face. Other activities, such as mission projects, trips to the city, dinners and the annual Mission Trip, round out the program that brings faith and culture to a head.
Junior High Fellowship, for students in 6th - 8th Grade, meets Sunday nights from 6:00 - 7:15pm.
Senior High Fellowship, for students in 9th - 12th Grade, meets Sunday nights from 7:30 - 8:45pm.
Adults
Adults are offered many opportunities and different types of programs that will increase their faith and knowledge of Christianity, God and the Bible. Each program is designed to address common concerns of our daily lives and deal with broader public issues of interest to both our congregation and the community at large. Weekly Bible Studies, at 9am on Sundays and 9:30am on Wednesdays, draw upon the Bible and contemporary topics. Additionally, Bible Forums, Master Classes and special programming respond to the situations in our world, offering a unique look at a particularly relevant topic. Other programs include "Life over Lunch," an opportunity to share a meal and food for thought at Martini's in Millburn on the Third Thursday of each month at noon.
Local trips and excursions, in addition to those abroad, offer a deeper exploration into a particular topic, site or destination. Local trips have included excursions to New York City to Central Park and various museums. Trips abroad include destinations such as Greece and Turkey, Paris and upcoming trips to Brussels and Israel/Egypt/Jordan.
